USA Trivia Answer #9

Who is the only president other than Washington to become a 5-star general?

Answer:

34th President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was made a 5-Star General (General of the Armies) on December 20, 1944. A 4-Star general is considered a full General, while 5-Star status is saved for times of serious crisis, such as WWII. Which is why you will find a number of 5-Star WWII Generals.

Additionally, in November 1942, Eisenhower was appointed Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force in the North African Theatre of Operations. Then, in December 1943, he was appointed Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force.
